Eritrean cyclist Daniel first black African cyclist to attain professional standard: Cycle Sport magazine
Cycle Sport magazine said that the Eritrean cyclist Daniel Teklehaimanot is the first black African cyclist who attained professional cycling standard.
Asmara, 2 September 2010 – Cycle Sport magazine said that the Eritrean cyclist Daniel Teklehaimanot is the first black African cyclist who attained professional cycling standard.
The magazine made the disclosure following an extensive interview it conducted with the Eritrean cyclist. It noted that cycling competition has a long historical background in Eritrea, and that Daniel Teklehaimanot’s achievement is the result of such background.
Following participation in a training course at the World Cycling Centre in Switzerland, Daniel joined the Swiss Chervelo Club as a professional cyclist after registering impressive victory in this year’s youth competition there.
