Resolutions have been adopted on preventing the reckless cutting of trees in the Southern region. The decision was reached following a meeting held in Mendefera town in which zonal administrators and community elders took part.

Mendefera, 2 September 2010 – Resolutions have been adopted on preventing the reckless cutting of trees in the Southern region. The decision was reached following a meeting held in Mendefera town in which zonal administrators and community elders took part.

The Administrator of the region, Mr. Mustefa Nurhusein, highlighted instances of irresponsible cutting of trees in the region for temporary benefit on the part of some individuals.

The resolutions adopted include measures of penalizing irresponsible cutting of trees, taking the necessary initiatives of combating manifestations of the destructive actions, and the assigning of individuals to look after such wrong doings, in addition to defining and applying penalty measures.
