The inhabitants of Mendefera sub-zone are constructing terraces and planting tree seedlings along the Kilewli’e micro-dam so as to prevent soil erosion.
Mendefera, 10 September 2010 – The inhabitants of Mendefera sub-zone are constructing terraces and planting tree seedlings along the Kilewli’e micro-dam so as to prevent soil erosion.
The head of economic development in the sub-zone, Mr. Kidane Furuy, indicated that the inhabitants of Adibilai, Kilewlie, Laelai and Tahtai Azarna, Endamaniel and Mainoh are taking active participation in the undertaking. Accordingly, more than 3,000 tree seedlings have been planted on 4 hectares.
He further explained that the activities are being carried out on a properly studied site, and that the tree planting program would continue. Mr. Kidane went on to say that the required guard personnel have been deployed to ensure the reliable growth of the newly planted tree seedlings.
The participants of the campaign said that they are the main beneficiaries of the undertaking, and urged the concerned party to take the necessary punishment against those irresponsible individuals who are illegally cutting down trees.
