Farmers in Golij stepping up weeding activities

Members of the farming community in Golij sub-zone are stepping up weeding activities with a view to obtaining bumper harvest, stated Mr. Amine Berhane, head of the Agriculture Ministry’ branch in the sub-zone. Golij, 11 September 2010 – Members of the farming community in Golij sub-zone are stepping up weeding activities with a view to obtaining bumper harvest, stated Mr. Amine Berhane, head of the Agriculture Ministry’ branch in the sub-zone.

He told ERINA that the farmers especially those who own small farm plot are redoubling efforts towards clearing up wild plants which initiatives are bearing encouraging outcome.  

Mr. Amine further commended the exemplary role of farmers in the administrative areas of Tebeldia, Gergef and Golij in undertaking weeding activities. In this connection, he called on the farming community to enhance participation in the construction of embankments and terracing towards promoting soil and water conservation.
