Dekemhare, 12 September 2010 – In a meeting they held in Dekemhare sub-zone, farmers of fruits and vegetables in Dekemhare sub-zone called for the supply of products to the market directly through their association so as to maximize benefits both for customers and the farmers.
In the meeting in which the farmers, representative of Ministry of Agriculture branch office and administration of Dekemhare sub-zone took part, the Chairman of the farmers’ association Mr. Negasi Tesfamichael said that such approach is aimed at balancing demand and supply, and thereby creating a market where the farmers and customers could be benefit.
The farmers on their part stressed the need to put in place the necessary infrastructure as they supply their products through association directly to the market.
The Administrator of the sub-zone, Mr. Efrem Gebrechirstos, on his part indicated the administrator and Ministry of Agriculture’s readiness to extend support for the success of the farmers’ endeavors.
