Increased public participation imperative for controlling high tariff for transport service

The head of terminals in Anseba region, Mr. Fisehaye Tesfai, called on the general public to enhance contribution in efforts to control owners and drivers of buses who are illegally charging high tariff and carry passengers above capacity. 
Keren, 15 September 2010 – The head of terminals in Anseba region, Mr. Fisehaye Tesfai, called on the general public to enhance contribution in efforts to control owners and drivers of buses who are illegally charging high tariff and carry passengers above capacity. 

He explained that the land transport branch in the region is striving to ensure public safety and control illegal activities on the part of drivers and owners of buses, and urged the public to report to the nearby office whenever such incidence occurs.

Mr. Fisehaye further pointed out that on top of the existing terminals in Keren and Hagaz, the branch has recently opened two new terminals in Elabered and Adi-Tekelezan. Preparations are also underway to open a similar facility in Hamelmalo, he added. He stated that punitive measures would be taken against those individuals  resorting to illegal activities.

The head of safety control unit in the branch office, Mr. Ogbai Woldemichael, said on his part that concerted action is being taken to ensure the safety of passengers along with their property.
