Asmara, 16 September 2010 – The society at large has been called upon to enhance awareness so as to prevent accidents resulting from high voltage power supply due to negligence, stated Eng. Abraham Berhe, head of electricity distribution lines at the Eritrean Electricity Corporation.

He told ERINA that the Corporation has the responsibility of compensating damage to properties due to high voltage. However, Eng. Abraham explained that it is not obliged to pay for damages caused by natural incidents like lighting, wind and birds.

Pointing out that the Government is making relentless efforts to distribute power supply to remote areas, he called on the public in general and the owners of enterprises in particular to cautiously handle electricity service.
