Hagaz, 17 September 2010 – The head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Hagaz sub-zone, Mr. Mohammed Abdalla Mohammed, urged the farming community in the sub-zone to redouble endeavors until their crop is properly harvested.

He explained that almost all farmlands in 16 administrative areas in the sub-zone are in good condition as a result of this year’s good rainy season and the necessary preparations made in advance through the collaboration of the people and the Government.

Mr. Mohammed stated that this year’s rainfall is much more better than the previous ten years both in terms of distribution and amount, and that over 600 mm rain has been recorded in the sub-zone.  He went on to say that 12 water reservoirs have impounded sufficient volume of water and reminded farmers to immediately inform agricultural experts whenever the incidence of pests is witnessed.

Members of the farming community said on their part that farms are in good condition thanks to the deployment of enough tractors by the Government and the vigorous weeding activities carried out by farmers, coupled with the good distribution of rainfall.
