Active popular participation imperative for preventing illegal trading activities

The head of rules and regulations unit in the Keren town administration, Mr. Tewolde Tesfatsion, said that raising public awareness and enhancing their participation are imperative for preventing illegal trading activities.
Keren, 21 September 2010 – The head of rules and regulations unit in the Keren town administration, Mr. Tewolde Tesfatsion, said that raising public awareness and enhancing their participation are imperative for preventing illegal trading activities.

He noted the negative consequences of illegally imported expired consumption items in public health and called for increased participation on the part of the entire society in controlling such a practice. Mr. Tewolde further indicated that expired items and illegally imported goods that were seized by the unit have been set on fire.

Mr. Tekie Habte, expert in environmental sanitation, said on his part that the public should be cautious about the expiry date of all consumption items, spices and related goods.

Similarly, Mr. Abdu Hassan from municipal inspectors called on businessmen to sell consumption goods at the right time and fair price.
