Southern Region: NCEW Striving To Promote Workers Safety And Health

The National Confederation of Eritrean Workers (NCEW) gave a lecture to employees and employers in the Southern region focusing on work safety and health, labor law and workers’ rights. Dekemhare, 22 September 2010 – The National Confederation of Eritrean Workers (NCEW) gave a lecture to employees and employers in the Southern region focusing on work safety and health, labor law and workers’ rights.

In the lecture that was offered in Dekemhare town, a number of employees and employers of various institutions from Mai-Edaga, Dekemhare and Mai-Aini took part. Experts gave briefings on different topics, including labor law-based workers’ safety, pension and rights, as well as the awareness and role of the workforce in the prevention of various communicable diseases, among others.

The head of the NCEW branch in the region, Mr. Tekeste Mihreteab, explained that the objectives and vision of the Confederation rests on nurturing productive workforce in which its safety and health is well guaranteed. Endeavors are also  underway to set up a committee in every institution comprising members from employers, employees and the Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare which is entrusted with the task of ensuring the safety of workers and creating conducive working atmosphere.
