Hagaz, 24 September 2010 – A new secondary school is under construction in Hagaz town at a cost of 13 million Nakfa.
The local inhabitants stated that the project is in line with the Government’s endeavors to build human capacity and commended the initiative taken. They further explained that youths equipped with the necessary knowledge and skill is the cornerstone of the country’s development drive.
In this connection, the inhabitants noted that their children who were compelled to travel long distance to attend classes are now able to pursue educational opportunities in their respective areas.
They went on to say that the construction of a high school in the town would facilitate the teaching-learning process.
The head of schools in the sub-zone, Mr. Saleh Ibrahim, indicated that prior to 1991 there were only 4 elementary schools in the sub-zone, and that at present, however, there are 18 schools ranging from kindergarten to secondary level. The high school under construction would also play major role in enhancing the number of students participating in education.
The school is being constructed through Debwin Construction Company and is equipped with 24 rooms, including classrooms, office, laboratory, computer center and other facilities.
