Cattle resource in Hagaz sub-zone is in good condition as there exist sufficient grass and water as a result of this year’s good rainy season, coupled with the commendable veterinary service being provided.
Hagaz, 27 September 2010 – Cattle resource in Hagaz sub-zone is in good condition as there exist sufficient grass and water as a result of this year’s good rainy season, coupled with the commendable veterinary service being provided.

Cattle owners told ERINA that almost all water reservoirs in all parts of the sub-zone have impounded sufficient amount of water, and that abundant pasture has been obtained which contributed to the prevailing good condition of the cattle.

Noting that the major problem in the area used to be scarcity of water, they indicated that thanks to the coordinated endeavors of the people and the Government, a number of micro-dams and water reservoirs have been constructed in the sub-zone that are playing significant role in ensuring potable water supply  for both humans and animals.

The Administrator of the sub-zone, Mr. Idris Hamid, pointed out that there are 12 micro-dams and water reservoirs in the sub-zone that have accumulated enough volume of water.
