Regional Administrator holds talks with salt producers

The Administrator of Southern Red Sea region, Mr. Osman Mohammed Omar, held meeting with salt producers aimed at developing salt production activities in South Denkalia and Assab sub-zones, and thereby create conducive ground for market to the producers. Assab, 28 September 2010 – The Administrator of Southern Red Sea region, Mr. Osman Mohammed Omar, held meeting with salt producers aimed at developing salt production activities in South Denkalia and Assab sub-zones, and thereby create conducive ground for market to the producers.

In the meeting in Assab town, the Administrator pointed out that the Government is doing its level best towards addressing market condition which remains to be the main bottleneck in the development of salt production. In this respect, Ms. Osman underlined the need for salt producers to strive for raising production through upholding far-sighted vision.

Stressing the paramount importance of salt and fish resources in efforts to achieve food security, he called on salt producers to enhance their participation in this regard.

The participants of the meeting on their part commended the Government’s endeavors towards achieving food security and asserted readiness to redouble salt production as long as there exists promising market.  They also lauded the efforts of the regional Administration in ensuring fair price of salt in the market.
