The head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the Southern region, Mr. Bahta Tedros, said that ensuring animal feed in the first place is a prerequisite towards guaranteeing milk and its products.
Segeneiti, 1 October 2010 – The head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the Southern region, Mr. Bahta Tedros, said that ensuring animal feed in the first place is a prerequisite towards guaranteeing milk and its products.
In a meeting with members of the dairy farm association in Segeneiti sub-zone, he stressed the need for preparing sufficient animal feed so as to bridge the gap between demand and supply. He went on to say that the sub-zonal administration has extended 4 hectares to the association for the purpose of cultivating green animal feed, and as such giving encouraging to animal feed has been made available.
The head of animal resource in the region, Dr. Okbazgi Kifle, said on his part that vigorous endeavors are being exerted to produce and supply safe milk in each sub-zone.
Likewise, the Chairman of the association, Mr. Hailat Andu, pointed out that there are over 500 cows owned by the 106-membered association, and that the members have finalized preparations to supply safe and sufficient milk to the newly set up milk distribution station.
The Administrator of Segeneiti sub-zone, Mr. Woldemichael Kidane, urged the association to make good use of the allotted land, besides providing efficient service to the public on the part of the milk distribution station.
Present at the meeting were representatives of the dairy farm association and sub-zonal administrators of Senafe, Adi-Keih, Dekemhare, Mai-Aini and Tsorona.
