Efforts To Empower Blind Citizens Bears Fruitful Outcome

At an assessment meeting of the Eritrean National Association of the Blind conducted in Savana Hotel from 30 September to 2 October, it was disclosed that the efforts to upgrade the capacity of blind citizens is bearing fruitful outcome.
Asmara, 3 October 2010 – At an assessment meeting of the Eritrean National Association of the Blind conducted in Savana Hotel from 30 September to 2 October, it was disclosed that the efforts to upgrade the capacity of blind citizens is bearing fruitful outcome.

In a speech he delivered at the occasion, the Chairman of the Association, Mr. Dawit Fessehaye, indicated that it has accomplished commendable work in empowering members, organizing the blind and the like in collaboration with its Swedish partner, S.R.F Kronoberi, over the past 10 years.

Mr. Ermias Idirs, member of the Swedish partner, stated that the association would continue to extend assistance in enhanced manner so as to help blind citizens alleviate the problems they face and become better acquainted with technology. He went on to say that the association was able to expand its activities thanks to the effective work of the national association.

The participants on their part held extensive discussions and adopted a number of resolutions including the need for wider campaigns to raise public awareness, reinforcing the association’s activities in collaboration with other partners in addition to enhanced contribution of religious leaders and village elders.
