Health professionals in Southern Red Sea region voice determination to live up to expectations

Health professionals in the Southern Red Sea region voiced commitment to work diligently for the effective implementation of the envisaged national health policy and the 5-year strategic planning aimed at ensuring public health in general and promoting mother and child care in particular. They voiced such determination in a meeting held in Assab town to assess the work accomplishment of the Health Ministry’s branch in the region.

Assab, 9 October 2010 – Health professionals in the Southern Red Sea region voiced commitment to work diligently for the effective implementation of the envisaged national health policy and the 5-year strategic planning aimed at ensuring public health in general and promoting mother and child care in particular. They voiced such determination in a meeting held in Assab town to assess the work accomplishment of the Health Ministry’s branch in the region.

They commended the policy and plan for giving priority attention to the task of strengthening community-based health care, and stressed the need for upgrading the skill of health professionals parallel with the expansion of health institutions. 

In briefings he gave regarding such policy and plan, Dr. Mismay  Gebrehiwet, Advisor to the Minister, pointed out that  it is aimed at providing equitable, competent and accessible service in a manner that takes into account the needs, capacity and number of beneficiaries. In this respect, he underlined the need for health professionals to demonstrate dedication and competence  so that the national policy and planning may attain the set goal.

The 5-year strategic health planning that would be launched in early 2011 gives priority to mother and child care and diet,  prevention, control and treatment of communicable and non-communicable diseases, totally eradicating these diseases in which achievements  have been registered in controlling measures, among others.
