Dige, 9 October 2010 – In a meeting with parent committee, the inhabitants of Dige sub-zone stated that they would avail themselves of the available educational opportunity, and thereby uproot illiteracy and its grave consequences.
They further asserted that they would send their children to school which opened in their respective areas and is free of charge, besides closely following up their children’s academic performance with the coordination of teachers.
The head of the Education Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone, Mr. Osman Abdelkadir, indicated on his part that in this year’s Grade 8 National Exams, all students of the school of Tekreriet, Hashekito and Hawashait have scored a passing mark. He went on to say that the number of students registered for elementary school in the 2010/2011 academic year has shown an increase of 80%.
There are 10 schools ranging from elementary to junior level in Dige sub-zone that comprises 11 administrative areas.
