The farming community engaged in fruits and vegetables activities in Adi-Keih sub-zone has been called upon to boost production.
Adi-Keih, 14 October 2010 – The farming community engaged in fruits and vegetables activities in Adi-Keih sub-zone has been called upon to boost production.

The Administrator of the sub-zone, Mr. Mohammed Hamed, stressed the need to augment fruits and vegetables supply double fold inline with the growing demand of the town residents.

Mr. Tesfom Tewolde, expert in fruits and vegetables in Adi-Keih, pointed out that the administrative areas of Tekondae, Mendefera, Embakakat, Sibiraso, Maalewia, Adi-Kanta, Haineba and Karibo are expanding irrigation farming. He also stated that over 1,000 hectares have been cultivated in the predominantly mountainous area of the sub-zone.

Mr. Tesfom further explained that the 107 micro-dams, ponds and wells constructed through the concerted effort of the people and Government are making due contribution in the developing the area.

The chairman of Simret Farmers Association of Fruits and Vegetables in Adi-Keih sub-zone, Mr. Michael Tekie, on his part disclosed that the Association with 98 members has managed to open a market for its products through raising capital.
