Keren, 17 October 2010 – A committee of parents and teachers in the sub-zone of Keren reiterated readiness to exert utmost efforts towards the successful completion of the 2010/2011 academic work program.
In a meeting conducted with parents, students and teachers, the committee pointed out the need for supervising students so as to nurture them in disciplined manner. Moreover, the committee would step up efforts to address the cause of students’ absence, dropout and failure. It also called on the parents to enhance contribution in effectively realizing the teaching-learning process.
The head of schools in the sub zone, Mr. Fikadu Gebrehawariat, stated that some of the 2010/2011 academic year plans include, organizing training courses to upgrade teachers’ capacity and providing general education in which all society can take part, as well as opening additional libraries.
The Administrator of the sub-zone, Mr. Tekie Keleta, noted that teachers should take pride in their profession, and the administration in collaboration with partners would strive to ensure the provision of quality education. In this respect, it has contributed 400,000 Nakfa to encourage the teachers of the sub-zone.
The participants of the meeting on their part voiced determination to redouble contribution.
Reports disclosed that there are 56 educational institutions sin Keren sub-zone.
