Adobha, 22 October 2010 – A newly implemented potable water supply project in Ela-Babu, Adobha sub-zone, at an expenditure of about 3 million Nakfa was inaugurated recently. The Administrator of the Northern Red Sea region, Ms. Tsegereda Woldegergis, inaugurated the project that was implemented by the regional Administration in collaboration with partners.

The project comprises a well, a water tanker with the capacity of holding 50 cubic meters of water, about 2 km-long water pipelines, 2 water distribution stations, 2 ponds for animals, solar-energy generating devices and other facilities, according to Mr. Musie Misgina, director general of infrastructure development in the region. The project is expected to provide potable water supply to more than 300 families.

Reports indicated that previously the local inhabitants were compelled to travel long distance to fetch water as the then existing well was filled with silt deposit during the past rainy seasons. The newly put in place facility would now relieve the inhabitants from such problem.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the regional Administrator, Ms. Tsegereda, indicated that the implementation of the project is in line with the Government’s endeavors to improve the people’s standard of living. She further called on the local inhabitants to enhance contribution in the national development drive and make good use of the available facility.
