Minister urges farming community in Southern region to properly gather animal feed

The Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Arefaine Berhe, called on the farming community in the Southern region to properly gather and ensure animal feed in line with the on-going activities in crop harvesting. Areza, 23 October 2010 – The Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Arefaine Berhe, called on the farming community in the Southern region to properly gather and ensure animal feed in line with the on-going activities in crop harvesting.

In the course of a visit he conducted to Areza sub-zone accompanied by the regional Administrator, Mr. Mustafa Nuhusein, the Minister observed farmlands which are in a promising condition. Mr. Arefaine urged farmers to properly follow up the condition of the farmlands until they are successfully reaped. 

Moreover, the Minister highlighted the need for effectively gathering the grasses in reserved rangelands, besides expanding such rangelands.

Mr. Mustafa Nurhusein, said on his part that the land leveling and other effective activities carried out before the onset of the rainy season have already borne  tangible outcome. Noting that farmlands are in an encouraging condition thanks to this year’s good rainy season, the Administrator stressed the need for properly supervising the selected sorghum seeds which have been planted in different parts of the sub-zone.
