The head of the Health Ministry’s branch in Habero sub-zone, Mr. Gebretinsae Zemichael, stressed the need for all parties to enhance participation so as to preserve and reinforce the achievements registered in the sub-zone in health sector.
Habero, 25 October 2010 – The head of the Health Ministry’s branch in Habero sub-zone, Mr. Gebretinsae Zemichael, stressed the need for all parties to enhance participation so as to preserve and reinforce the achievements registered in the sub-zone in health sector.
He stated that most of the diseases that used to be witnessed in the sub-zone were caused due to ill-hygiene, and that the inhabitants of Filfil, Gelet, Aretai and Mai-Milih have constructed toilets and are making good use of it thanks to the public awareness raising campaign. Mr. Gebretinsae further indicated that the inhabitants of Kar-Obel, Habero-Tselim and Habero-Tsaeda are actively engaged in the construction of toilets.
Noting that health professionals in the sub-zone are working diligently in agitating the public to construct toilet and promote environmental sanitation, he explained that the number of pregnant mothers giving birth in health institutions is on the rise. Encouraging achievements have also been registered in controlling malaria and tuberculosis infections.
Mr. Gebretinsae went on to say that the health station in Aretai semi-urban center in the sub-zone is equally providing service on fertility, vaccination, pre-and post-delivery checkup, laboratory, voluntary testing and the like.
