Meeting on ways of strengthening relations between Gash-Barka and Kassala regions conducted

Officials from the Eritrean Gash-Barka region and the Sudanese Kassala region held a meeting in Tessenei town on ways of strengthening the existing relations between the two countries in general and both regions in particular, and thereby enhance bilateral cooperation between both peoples.

Tessenei, 25 October 2010 – Officials from the Eritrean Gash-Barka region and the Sudanese Kassala region held a meeting in Tessenei town on ways of strengthening the existing relations between the two countries in general and both regions in particular, and thereby enhance bilateral cooperation between both peoples.

The meeting chaired by the Administrators of the Gash-Barka and Kassala regions is in continuation of similar meetings conducted previously with a view to building solid relations of cooperation. It was also disclosed that both regions are working for mutual benefit through effectively implementing the agreements concluded and action programs mapped out on various occasions.

Speaking at the meeting, the Administrator of Gash-Barka region, Mr. Mussa Rab’a, commended Sudanese brothers for visiting Gash-Barka region. He further lauded the role being played by both parties towards strengthening the historical ties between the Eritrean and Sudanese people in general and that of Gash-Barka and Kassala in particular.

Likewise, the Administrator of Kassala region, Mr. Mohammed Yusuf Adem Beshir, stated that endeavors are underway to create conducive ground for free movement of people through enhancing the existing strategic relations between the two neighboring regions. He also expressed appreciation for the warm hospitality accorded to them.
