Beyan, 26 October 2010 – A new elementary school is under construction in Beyan administrative area, Nacfa sub-zone, at a cost of over 1.6 million Nakfa.
The infrastructure development department in the Northern Red Sea region disclosed that the projects includes the construction of 5 classrooms, 3 staff offices, 3 restrooms and a water tanker.
Reports indicated that previously the students used to attend classes in makeshift tents, and that the construction of the new school would play major role in facilitating the teaching-learning process.
The director of the school, Mr. Mohammed Fakak Ahmed told ERINA that the school initially began providing educational opportunity in makeshift tents in 2002 through the support of the local inhabitants and concerned nationals. He further explained that the school provides educational opportunity to students from 5 surrounding villages, and that the participation of students in education is growing significantly. The awareness of parents regarding education is equally gaining momentum as a result of the intensive campaign being undertaken, Mr. Mohammed added.
The local inhabitants expressed satisfaction with the Government’s endeavors to promote social justice and services, especially the construction of a modern school in their respective area.
