Kirora sub-zone: Public awareness regarding education on the rise

The awareness of the public regarding education is on the rise in Kirora sub-zone as a result of vigorous efforts being made to upgrade the quality of education, stated Mr. Abdulahi Saleh, head of the Education Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone.
Kirora, 26 October 2010 – The awareness of the public regarding education is on the rise in Kirora sub-zone as a result of vigorous efforts being made to upgrade the quality of education, stated Mr. Abdulahi Saleh, head of the Education Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone.

He stated that there exist 9 schools in the sub-zone, including 2 kindergarten, 5 elementary schools, an elementary and junior schools, as well as junior school.  Mr. Abdulahi went on to say that the participation of students in education, especially females is showing noticeable improvement thanks to the public awareness raising campaign. He pointed out that the Emahmime Junior School has been upgraded to secondary level in the 2010/2011 academic year. Mr. Abdulahi called on parents to send their children to school and noted the importance of regrouping scattered villages in a community to this end.

The director of the school, Mr. Abubaker Ali, stated that public awareness in education continues to grow, and that female participation in elementary and junior level stands at 45% and 44% respectively.
