More Students Need To Attend School In Kerkebet Sub-Zone: Report

The Administrator of Kerkebet sub-zone, Mr. Humed Ela Ali, urged the local inhabitants to raise awareness regarding the significance of education, and thereby help promote female participation in education and eradicate illiteracy.
Kerkebet, 27 October 2010 – The Administrator of Kerkebet sub-zone, Mr. Humed Ela Ali, urged the local inhabitants to raise awareness regarding the significance of education, and thereby help promote female participation in education and eradicate illiteracy.

In a meeting with the inhabitants of Himbol-Kechech and Amalait, he called on parents, administrators and village elders to enhance contribution in sending children to school, encourage females continue academic pursuit and properly follow up the academic performance of students.

The head of the Education Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone, Mr. Adem Beshir, stated that the necessary steps would be taken to increase the limited student participation in education in the elementary schools of Lekuyob, Filk and Homib. Stating that the inhabitants’ awareness regarding education is low as they lead herding and farming life style, he explained that adult education program is being implemented so as to change such a perception. Mr. Adem went on to say that the number of adult education stations would increase this year.

A total of 1,000 students are currently receiving educational opportunity in the elementary schools of Lekuyob, Filk, Homib, Adi-Simbra and Hamash-Diba, as well as in the elementary and junior schools of Himbol and Amalait, according to reports.
