Ambassador Girmai Presents Credentials To Canada’s Governor General

The Eritrean Ambassador to the US, Mr. Girmai Gebremariam, presented his credentials to the Governor General of Canada, Mr. David Johnston, as Eritrea’s non-resident Ambassador to that country.

Asmara, 3 November 2010 – The Eritrean Ambassador to the US, Mr. Girmai Gebremariam, presented his credentials to the Governor General of Canada, Mr. David Johnston, as Eritrea’s non-resident Ambassador to that country.

During the presentation ceremony on October 29, the Canadian Governor General said that Eritrea’s role in promoting peace in the Horn of Africa is significant and commended the contribution it is making in this regard.

Mr. David Johnston further expressed good health to President Isaias, as well as peace and prosperity to the Eritrean people.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Girmai held talks with Canadian Foreign Ministry officials on developing bilateral relations.

In a meeting with the director general of the African Affairs Office in the Canadian Foreign Ministry, Mr. Donald Bobiash, the Canadian official said that his recent meeting with heads of the Eritrean Foreign Ministry was constructive. He further expressed high impression with the prevailing peace and stability in Eritrea.

The two sides also conducted discussion on regional stability in general and the situation in Sudan and Somalia in particular. Both sides expressed readiness to work jointly for mutual benefit.
