Over 100 citizens in Afabet sub-zone receive eye surgery

As part of the continuous endeavors being made to do away with blindness in the country by 2015, more than 100 nationals in Afabet sub-zone received eye surgery  from October 25 to 31 on the basis of internal capacity, stated Mr. Samuel Kebed, head of the program.

Afabet , 4 November 2010 – As part of the continuous endeavors being made to do away with blindness in the country by 2015, more than 100 nationals in Afabet sub-zone received eye surgery  from October 25 to 31 on the basis of internal capacity, stated Mr. Samuel Kebed, head of the program.

He said that the undertaking in which 10 eye surgery specialists took part, was a continuation of a similar program carried out in the sub-zones of Adobha, Karora, Nacfa and Afabet to about 500 patients.

The director of Afabet Hospital, Dr. Yakob Hasen told ERINA that the patients were previously traveling to Massawa, Keren and Asmara to get medical treatment.

It is to be recalled that a successful eye surgery was undertaken in Massawa to about 430 citizens from all sub-zones of Northern Red Sea region.
