Agordat sub-zone: More endeavors to be exerted to strengthen parent-teacher-student relationship

More efforts need to be exerted to maintain close relationship among parents, teachers and students so as to upgrade student academic performance, stated Mr. Awreliyo Jakomino, Administrator of Agordat sub-zone.

Agordat, 5 November 2010 – More efforts need to be exerted to maintain close relationship among parents, teachers and students so as to upgrade student academic performance, stated Mr. Awreliyo Jakomino, Administrator of Agordat sub-zone.

In a meeting with parents committee, Assembly members and heads  of the Education Ministry’s branch in Gash-Barka region, he explained that close coordination of parents, teacher and administrative bodies is imperative to attain the set goal.

The head of the Ministry’s branch office in the sub-zone, Mr. Abdalla Omar Keram, on his part gave briefings on the state of the teaching-learning process in the sub-zone. He indicated that students enrollment in  elementary school has shown an increase of 85% this year, in addition to 35% growth at junior level.

Also speaking at the meeting, the head of the Education Ministry’s branch in the region, Mr. Kelit Girmai, commended the endeavors being made by the sub-zonal administration to back up academic activities. He also called on the public to make good use of the newly constructed boarding school in the locality.

The Agordat Boarding School is currently providing education opportunity to about 850 students, out of whom 220 are females from the sub-zones of Agordat, Forto-Sawa, Dige, Mensura, Megolo, Molqi, Shambuko and Laelai-Gash.
