Potable water supply project in Hamerti providing sustainable service

The potable water supply project in Hamerti administrative area, Araeta sub-zone, which was implemented in 2007 at a cost of about 4.5 million Nakfa has been providing reliable and uninterrupted service for about 4 years thanks to the good management and judicious utilization on the part of the inhabitants, according to Mr. Ali Egahle, Administrator of the area.

 

Araeta, 5 November 2010 – The potable water supply project in Hamerti administrative area, Araeta sub-zone, which was implemented in 2007 at a cost of about 4.5 million Nakfa has been providing reliable and uninterrupted service for about 4 years thanks to the good management and judicious utilization on the part of the inhabitants, according to Mr. Ali Egahle, Administrator of the area.

He explained that although there exist fence and guard at the facility, the local inhabitants demonstrate extra care in the utilization of the service, which in turn enabled the project to provide sustainable service.

The inhabitants said on their part that prior to the implementation of the project, water-born diseases were rampant, However, since the introduction of potable water supply service, no such disease has been witnessed, they elaborated. The local inhabitants further commended the Government’s endeavors to expand equitable social service in all parts of the country.

Meanwhile, kindergarten and Adult Education program are being given in Hamerti elementary and junior school, on top of the regular classes. The school is currently providing education opportunity to students from Haweda, Dara, Halol, Sibhiero and E’adoli.
