The Administrator of the Southern Red Sea region, Mr. Osman Mohammed Omar, said that national development programs continue to pick up pace despite all forms of different forms of hostilities and conspiracies.
Assab, 7 November 2010 – The Administrator of the Southern Red Sea region, Mr. Osman Mohammed Omar, said that national development programs continue to pick up pace despite all forms of different forms of hostilities and conspiracies.
He made the statement in a meeting he conducted with the inhabitants of Assab and its environs.
Ambassador Osman pointed out that ensuring social justice and improving the living standard of the people are among the top priorities of the Eritrean government. In this respect, he said that impressive achievements have been registered in the provision of basic social services including health and educational institutions as well as potable water supply.
The Administrator further asserted that poverty, illiteracy and diseases are being put under control defeated thanks to the concerted efforts on the part of the people and government. He then called on the society to equip themselves with knowledge and skill.
The participants on their part adopted a number of recommendations and forwarded suggestions.
It is to be noted that over 77% of the local inhabitants of the region have got access to potable water supply, the participation of the school attendance have increased double fold and mothers in remote areas are obtaining health services, as well as a number of villages have got power supply.
