Eritrean Blood Bank Awarded International Quality Administration Certificate

The Eritrean National Blood Bank was yesterday awarded the International Quality Administration Certificate for its commendable activities in saving lives through blood donation and preservation.

Asmara, 7 November 2010 – The Eritrean National Blood Bank was yesterday awarded the International Quality Administration Certificate for its commendable activities in saving lives though blood donation and preservation.  

Speaking at the award ceremony, the Minister of Health, Ms. Amna Nurhussein, underscored that impressive achievements have been registered in the health sector as a result of the Government’s substantial investments. She went on to say that the awarding ceremony which is the outcome of strenuous endeavors opens a significant chapter in the history of the African continent, and it is a proud moment for Eritreans.

Minister Amna commended all blood donors which are making due contribution for the blood bank to carry out its mission and save the lives of citizens, and called on others to take similar initiatives. 

The Head of the National Blood Bank, Dr. Yifde’amlak Tesfamariam, said that the registered achievement through concerted efforts adds impetus for more gratifying outcome.

To date, only Eritrea, Zimbabwe and Mauritius from the African continent have been awarded the International Quality Administration Certificate.
