Endeavors underway to provide potable water supply in Sel’a sub-zone

Vigorous efforts are underway to provide reliable potable water supply to the inhabitants of Sel’a sub-zone, according to Mr. Meharena Tekleab, head of administration and finance in the sub-zone.

Sel’a, 8 November 2010 – Vigorous efforts are underway to provide reliable potable water supply to the inhabitants of Sel’a sub-zone, according to Mr. Meharena Tekleab, head of administration and finance in the sub-zone.

He explained that there exists no shortage of water as the Zara river flows along the Rikeb semi-urban center and other administrative areas in the sub-zone. Mr. Meharena indicated that a well has been dug in Dieba-Sata administrative area in a modern way, while another well is being dug in Badi administrative area.

Moreover, he pointed out that although a potable water supply project implemented a couple of years is providing commendable service, proposal have been put forth to the regional Administration to further upgrade and expand such service. 

The head of water resource department in the Anseba regional Administration, Mr. Zere Woldetinsae, said on his part that training has been given to more than 40 people from the administrative areas of Badi, Rikeb, Gerger-Gersi and Sherit focusing on water resource management.

Sel’a sub-zone groups the administrative areas of  Geda’e, Badi, Merbebai, Dieba-Sata, Sherit, Rikeb and Gerger-Gersi.
