Administrator Calls For Prudent Utilization Of Water Reserved In Dams And Ponds

The Administrator of Gash Barka region, Mr. Musa Rab’a called on the inhabitants to properly utilize the water resources accumulated in dams and ponds constructed at considerable expenditure so as to ensure their sustainability and promote their impact on the everyday lives of citizens. Gash Barka, November 09, 2010: The Administrator of Gash Barka region, Mr. Musa Rab’a called on the inhabitants to properly utilize the water resources accumulated in dams and ponds constructed at considerable expenditure so as to ensure their sustainability and promote their impact on the everyday lives of citizens.

Mr. Musa forwarded these reminders while inspecting the new ponds and dams constructed in the sub zones of Barentu, Shambuko and La’lay Gash. During his inspection, the Administrator observed that the dams have not only alleviated water shortages in the respective areas but have also enhanced under-water resources.

The Administrator visited the pond in Sisima administrative area, a natural dam in Ali-Gende, a new pond in Girme administrative area, dams in Adi-Ma’elel and Tselim Kelay, a new dam in La’lay Gash, and a pond in Debero Administrative area and consulted with the respective area administrators on their proper utilization.

Speaking to ERINA, Mr. Musa stated that the impact of the dams and ponds in providing water source for both the inhabitants and their livestock cannot be viewed lightly.

Moreover, the Administrator visited new houses constructed for the nationals being rehabilitated in the administrative areas of Denbe Himbirti, Girme and Adi-Ma’elel.
