Newly built ENT National Referral Clinic inaugurated

A national referral clinic of Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) constructed at an expenditure of over 13 million Nakfa within the premises of the Orotta Referral Hospital was inaugurated yesterday. The project was implemented in accordance with the understanding reached between the Ministry of Health and the German-based MEDCARE Association.

Asmara, 9 November 2010 – A national referral clinic of Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) constructed at an expenditure of over 13 million Nakfa within the premises of the Orotta Referral Hospital was inaugurated yesterday. The project was implemented in accordance with the understanding reached between the Ministry of Health and the German-based MEDCARE Association. 

The clinic is equipped with a total of 15 rooms along with full equipments, including rooms serving for out-patients, surgery room, laboratory and other facilities.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the director of national referral hospitals in the Health Ministry, Dr. Habteab Mehari, said that the newly constructed ENT national referral clinic is an integral part of the substantial investment being made to ensure public health.

He further indicated that the clinic equipped with full modern equipments would play major role in reinforcing the health sector. Dr. Habteab expressed appreciation to partners in facilitating the success of the project.

Likewise, the Board Chairman of MEDCARE, Prof. Eberhard Stennert, stated that the clinic ranks among the top similar clinics in the African continent in terms of its capacity and quality. He further expressed conviction that the existing cooperation and relations would be further enhanced in the future.
