Fruits and vegetables farmers in Halib-Mentel administrative area are striving to make optimum use of the available water resource impounded as a result of the good rainy season.
Halib-Mentel, 10 November 2010 – Fruits and vegetables farmers in Halib-Mentel administrative area are striving to make optimum use of the available water resource impounded as a result of the good rainy season.

The farmers told ERINA that the big micro-dam constructed by the Government in order to ease potable water supply problem the inhabitants used to encounter has impounded sufficient amount of water. They said that they are actively engaged in cultivating their farm plots through making good use of the available opportunity. Livestock in the locality have also been relieved of traveling long distance for drinking water, the farmers added.

The head of economic development in Elabered sub-zone, Mr. Teklu Kafil, pointed out that the terraces and embankments constructed along the edges of the micro-dam through popular campaign are playing due role in stabilizing the environment.
