Gash-Barka region: Skill upgrading course given to teachers and supervisors of adult education program

Skill upgrading course has been given to teachers and supervisors of adult education program from the sub-zones of Gash-Barka region. Barentu, 11 November 2010 – Skill upgrading course has been given to teachers and supervisors of adult education program from the sub-zones of Gash-Barka region.

The head of supervision and adult education unit in the Ministry of Education, Ms. Ababa Woldegebriel, explained that the training which was conducted in Barentu town, focused on general methods of teaching, applying participatory teaching procedure and strengthening teaching skills, among others. She went on to say that the country is exerting vigorous efforts to achieve the Millennium Development Goals as regards reducing illiteracy to below 10% by the year 2015.

The head of adult education program in the region, Mr. Jokomo Odi, on his part indicated that there exist around 600 adult education centers that carry out anti-illiteracy activities in Kunama, Nara, Tigre, Tigrinya, Arabic and Saho.
