Information Ministry Launches 6th Satellite Transmission Channel

As part of endeavor to expand the scope of  broadcast, the  Ministry of Information has launched 6th satellite transmission channel at substantial expenditure with a view to enabling Eritrean nationals living abroad to closely follow up developments in the Homeland.

Asmara, 11 November 2010 – As part of endeavor to expand the scope of  broadcast, the  Ministry of Information has launched 6th satellite transmission channel at substantial expenditure with a view to enabling Eritrean nationals living abroad to closely follow up developments in the Homeland. 

The Director General of Television Department, Mr. Asmelash Abraha, told ERINA that the Ministry has been broadcasting programs through Arab Sat, Globe Cast and Tele Star to the Middle East, Europe, North America, Canada and Australia. Henceforth too, it has launched beginning this month an additional channel, namely Arab Sat Badr-6, he elaborated.

Mr. Asmelash went on to say that in addition to the previous broadcasts through Badr-4 and Badr-5 channels, the Information Ministry would launch new channel to the whole of Africa, the Middle East and southern Europe, southern Canada and northern Latin America.  Accordingly, the audience in the African content, the Middle East, southern Europe, southern Canada and northern Latin America would be able to follow up broadcasts of Dimtsi Hafash, Radio Zara, Radio Numa and the programs of Eri-Tv, he added.

Mr. Asmelash, also reminded the audience to forward their views and criticisms to the Ministry through telephone, fax and e-mail, as well as demonstrate the necessary cooperation with the Television Department so as to reinforce the Government’s relentless endeavors to satisfy the expectations of the public.
