Northern Red Sea region: Call made for increased female participation in education

Endeavors to promote active female participation in education in Northern Red Sea region need to be stepped up in rural areas, according to Mr. Tesfai Tekle, director general of social services in the region.

Massawa, 12 November 2010 – Endeavors to promote active female participation in education in Northern Red Sea region need to be stepped up in rural areas, according to Mr. Tesfai Tekle, director general of social services in the region. 

He particularly made reference to low female participation in the sub-zones of Karora, Dahlak, Foro, Gelalo and Adobha that requires special attention.

The head of NUEYS in the region, Mr. Ibrahim Hassen, indicated on his part that the Union in collaboration with the Education Ministry is striving to nurture dynamic youths through providing various vocational and educational programs. Special attention is also being given to the task of encouraging females to actively participate in education.
