In its news report broadcast on November 14, Aljazeera TV said that the City of Asmara is the center of mutual respect and co-existence of diverse people. Asmara, 15 November 2010 – In its news report broadcast on November 14, Aljazeera TV said that the City of Asmara is the center of mutual respect and co-existence of diverse people.

It indicated that the city which lies over 2,300 meters above sea level is endowed with salubrious weather, and that it is an example of co-existence in which followers of the Islamic and Christian faiths live in harmony, and as such  it constitutes one of the assets of the country. 

The Aljazeera news report further pointed out that the over 100 years-old Asmara is a charming city with classic Art deco and praiseworthy neatness which attracts foreigners to live in it, especially Italians.

The report further noted that the spectacular streets of Asmara that were banned for the natives in the days of colonial rule have been renovated and expanded in the post-independence period and have provided added color to the charm of the city.

It was broadcasted as part of the program that began being transmitted in Aljazeera TV beginning November 13 focusing on Eritrea’s journey and its struggle for independence.
