The College of Science and Marine Technology in Massawa is striving to introduce computerized educational system as part of efforts to upgrade educational competence, according to Dr. Zekaria Abdelkerim, Dean of the College.
Massawa, 15 November 2010 – The College of Science and Marine Technology in Massawa is striving to introduce computerized educational system as part of efforts to upgrade educational competence, according to Dr. Zekaria Abdelkerim, Dean of the College.
He told ERINA that over 200 computers are already in the process of being connected in network system, and that advanced laboratory equipments have been installed in some fields of study. The Dean further explained that understanding has been reached with the Ministry of Marine Resource with a view to providing joint practical education in the sea and islands.
Dr. Zekaria further explained that the College is currently providing courses in the fields of Marine Agriculture, Marine Engineering and Sea Exploration and Discovery with growing number of students, especially females in such fields.
A newly introduced field, namely Marine Biotechnology that attracted a number of students has already begun offering B.A program, and that the College would graduate about 120 students in degree and diplomat next year for the 3rd time, he elaborated.
The head of Applied Science Department and coordinator of Freshmen Program, Mr. Hasen Hasebela, said on his part that the College has enrolled over 210 freshmen students in the 2010/2011 academic year.
The College of Science and Marine Technology is currently providing degree and diploma courses to more than 700 students, out of whom 100 are females.
