World Diabetes Day marked in Keren

World Diabetes Day was marked in Keren town at the national level through staging various activities.

Keren, 15 November 2010 – World Diabetes Day was marked in Keren town at the national level through staging various activities.

Speaking on the occasion, the chairman of the Eritrean National Diabetes Association, Mr. Rezene Araya, said that the Day reminds the society at large to redouble endeavors towards preventing the disease and caring for the patients. He further indicated that the Association is striving to raise the awareness of the public regarding the disease.

Dr. Tekeste Berhane from Keren Hospital said on his part that the spread of communicable diseases continues to keep on declining and stressed the significance of raising public awareness and organizing patients in association in preventing such diseases.  In this connection, Dr. Tekeste explained that regular diet and physical exercise are decisive weapons to combat diabetes.

World Diabetes Dy was marked for the 20th time at international level and for the 10th time in Eritrea.
