Gergsum Beach Hotel under renovation

Gergsum Beach Hotel being administered under the umbrella of the Tourism Ministry is under general renovation at an expenditure of about 6 million Nakfa with a view to providing reliable service to the growing number of tourists, according to Mr. Abraham Michael, the manager.
Massawa, 16 November 2010 – Gergsum Beach Hotel being administered under the umbrella of the Tourism Ministry is under general renovation at an expenditure of about 6 million Nakfa with a view to providing reliable service to the growing number of tourists, according to Mr. Abraham Michael, the manager.

He explained that 45 bedrooms that were out of use have already been renovated and are rendering service. Air conditioner, telephone, TV and other equipments have also been installed in 90 bedrooms so as to give more comfort to guests, Mr. Abraham added. He further pointed out that the hotel has the capacity of accommodating 180 guests at a given night.

Mr. Abraham went on to say that the hotel accommodated over 12,000 guests this year and that many more visit it to swim and entertained on daily basis. Continued sanitation campaign is undertaken to maintain the neatness of the beach around the hotel. He indicated that the Eritrean coastline attracts tourists as it is unpolluted and called on visitors to enhance collaboration in maintaining the sanitation of the seashore.

Mr. Yohannes Teklemariam, expert in marine resource preservation, on his part highlighted the need for putting in place the necessary facilities and reliable transport service in the beach hotel so that it may attract more tourists.
