No foreign military presence in Dahlak Island: Aljazeera TV

In the series of news reports it is currently broadcasting, Aljazeera Television said that there exist no foreign military presence in the Dahlak Island.

Dahlak, 18 November 2010 – In the series of news reports it is currently broadcasting, Aljazeera Television said that there exist no foreign military presence in the Dahlak Island.

In its broadcast on November 17 focusing on the history of Dahlak Island, the television station pointed out that allegations claiming as if there exists Israeli or Iranian military base in the island is totally baseless.

Noting that Dahlak Island, which lies 55 Km. north of the port city of Massawa, is endowed with ample not yet destroyed relics, the report by Aljazeera Tv highlighted, along with pictures, the fact that many Eritrean nationalists who opposed colonial rule beginning with that of Italy were languishing under despicable prison conditions in the island.

The report went on to explain that the Eritrean government is presently undertaking a number of tourism development activities in Dahlak Island, and that it has become a charming site on the path of development
