Call made to strengthen community-based rehabilitation activities in Gash-Barka region

The Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare branch in Gash-Barka region stressed the need for employees of community-based rehabilitation program to enhance endeavors in helping bring about behavioral change among the society. Barentu, 20 November 2010 – The Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare branch in Gash-Barka region stressed the need for employees of community-based rehabilitation program to enhance endeavors in helping bring about behavioral change among the society.

At a training given to the employees from 8 sub-zones, they were called upon to work diligently in putting an end to harmful practices. The head of the Ministry’s branch office, Mr. Ephrem Kiflom, noted the significance of such training in reinforcing the contribution of the employees.

The participants of the training on their part expressed commitment to redouble endeavors through expanding their role up to the level of administrative areas. They further stated that resorting to harmful practices continues to decline as a result of public awareness raising campaign conducted via the mass media.

There are more than 700 employees of community-based rehabilitation program in Gash-Barka region, the reports added.
