Asmara, 20 November 2010 – The audience of Dimtsi Hafash stressed the need for giving due attention to the task of addressing repeated mistakes in broadcasting, as part of the Information Ministry’s substantial investment to expand coverage and upgrade the quality of programs.
In the opinion they gave to the feedback section of the Ministry, the audience indicated that repetition of songs, domination of dramas by few individuals and breakdown in program broadcast, among others are some of the main shortcomings of Dimtsi Hafash.
In a reply he gave to the audience complaints, the director general of Radio Department, Mr. Girmai Berhe, said that new work methodology is being introduced to rectify the mistake in repetition of songs. Also replying to a question posed by audience asking why Radio Zara is limited to music broadcasting only, he admitted that it is constructive opinion and added that the launching of Radio Numa is designed to accommodate such views.
Mr. Girmai went on to say that although conducive ground was created that encourages various artists to present their works, the majority of the presented works were incompetent in terms of quality and content vis-à-vis radio broadcasting. Now too, the opportunity would be extensively provided on the basis of competition, he added.
Noting that the development being registered in radio service is realized through active audience participation, Mr. Girmai explained that the service of Dimtsi Hafash, Radio Numa and Radio Zara would strengthen activities in 2011 so as to meet public demand.
