The Eritrean Core Well Drilling Company (ECDC) has begun proceeding to the 2nd mission of undertaking mineral exploration, according to Mr. Kibreab Tesfai, manager of the company.
Asmara, 26 November 2010 – The Eritrean Core Well Drilling Company (ECDC) has begun proceeding to the 2nd mission of undertaking mineral exploration, according to Mr. Kibreab Tesfai, manager of the company.
He indicated that over the past years since the achievement of independence, the company has been fully engaged in the task of ensuring potable water supply in all the administrative regions. As a result, over 2,000 wells have been dug, and that there exists no concern with water resource in undertaking agricultural and industrial activities, Mr. Kibreab elaborated.
Noting that 75% of the Eritrean population has got access to potable water supply, he explained that most of the demand for digging wells has already been fulfilled.
The manager went on to say that at present, the company’s second and major task focuses on mining exploration so as to make vital contribution to the ongoing mining investment. As such, 3/4 of its overall activities is being directed to mineral exploration, he added.
Mr. Kibreab stated that the company is already carrying out digging activities at Bisha Mining site, besides finalizing all-round preparation for undertaking similar tasks. Earlier, Eritrean Core Well Drilling Company was engaged in digging wells, installing pumps and putting in place the foundation for micro-dams.
