Barentu, 29 November 2010 – Concerted action is being taken to provide reliable medical service to the public in Gash-Barka Regional Referral Hospital, according to Dr. Seletsion Megos, director of the hospital.

He told ERINA that the competence of health professionals in the Hospital continues to improve from time to time, and that the number of patients referred to other hospitals for advanced treatment is on the decline. Dr. Seletsion further indicated that except those complicated cases that require special surgery, almost all diseases are being treated on the basis of the Hospital’s internal resource.

Noting that the Hospital is rendering various services, including disease treatment, physiotherapy and awareness raising programs, he stated that X-ray, laboratory, pharmacy and other services are also being provided.

Dr. Seletsion went on to say that newly assigned health professionals from various colleges in the country are playing major role in the provision of efficient medical service.
