Effective tasks being accomplished to raise Assab town revenue

Effective tasks are being accomplished as regards strengthening the provision of various social services in Assab town, including potable water supply, health, education, electricity, telephone and postal services with a view to raising revenue, according to Mr. Berhane Eyasu, Administrator of the town.
Assab, 30 November 2010 – Effective tasks are being accomplished as regards strengthening the provision of various social services in Assab town, including potable water supply, health, education, electricity, telephone and postal services with a view to raising revenue, according to Mr. Berhane Eyasu, Administrator of the town.

In a meeting with residents of the town, he indicated that out of the government revenue that was supposed to be collected over the past 10 years, 82% has been secured. Mr. Berhane commended the residents for paying government tax on time taking into account that such revenue is for their benefit.

He explained that 5 km-long water pipelines have been replaced with new ones, and that about 400 tree seedlings have been planted in different parts of the town. Mr. Berhane further pointed out that internet service would be introduced in the coming few months in the town.   

The participants of the meeting adopted a number of resolutions and recommendations highlighting the need for strengthening the Assab Hospital, undertaking regular sanitation campaign in the town and the like. They also expressed readiness to fulfill what is expected of them in boosting revenue.
