Asmara, 30 November 2010 – Strenuous efforts are being exerted to ease potable water distribution problem in the Central region due to damage of water pipelines and water pumping devices.
Noting that the necessary action is being taken to bring about basic solution to the problem, he indicated that the activities carried out in the Denden Camp towards tackling the problem are an integral part of such endeavors. Water pipelines have been renovated and are already rendering service, he added.
Meanwhile, residents in some parts of the vicinity of Asmara stressed the need for the concerned party to enable them obtain regular potable water supply. They explained that although tap water has long been introduced in the area, no meaningful provision of running water service has been witnessed. As a result, they are compelled to obtain drinking water from water trucks, which in turn is irregular and at unfair cost.
